Jaguar XF Cabrio to debut at the 2009 Detroit Motor Show in January

Back in September 2007, Jaguar plans to extend its XF lineup were revealed. And, just as it was predicted, an insider from the carmaker's head company, Tata, has affirmed that a range of sporty new versions forthcoming from the revived British brand. The range is currently developing its different versions, starting with a two-door cabriolet variant of the enormously successful XF saloon. The XF Roadster will utilize a retractable fabric roof, together with a somewhat shortened wheelbase to enhance structural stiffness, while preserving the saloon's handsome silhouette. Heads will guarantee that there is a considerable cost differential, so that the new model doesn't steal sales from the XK Cabriolet.As a consequence, price tags are set to begin at around the £35,000 ($51,565 or a€41,390) range.
This XF variant is not the sole vehicle which has been set aside for production; a two-door Coupe is also just around the corner. Intended to compete with Audi's curvy A5, it will bring even more style to the XF's stiff bodyshape with a tapered roof and high waistline. This, too, will be offered below the XK in the £30,000 ($44,215 or €35,475) range. Both versions are anticipated to use engines from the XF saloon. The range will comprise V6 petrol and diesel units, plus the company's 4.2-litre V8, offered in naturally aspirated 300bhp or supercharged 420 hp configuration.
Jaguar is hinted to take unwrap the two new models in 2010. And remember the hardcore 500 hp XFR coming with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8. It was observed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last July, and is scheduled to be officially introduced at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2009. It has been revealed by sources that Jaguar is sizing up the Porsche Boxster and Mercedes SLK and seriously considering a 'budget' two-seater to rival in this profitable segment of the market.
Coming directly behind the F-Type concept, this version will be advertised securely in £40,000 ($58,950 or €47,340) Boxster sphere, providing space for a coupe version to compete with the Cayman. The dimunitive two-seater, which is scheduled for 2012, will employ a cut-down variant of the lightweight aluminum chassis from the latest XJ, itself due in 2010.
