Jaguar XKR GT2 to make its debut in the Petit Le Mans event

For the purpose of testing and development, RSR will be entering the Jaguar XKR GT2 in the Petit Le Mans event. The Jaguar XKR will be under the GT2 class, which features production-based cars that were modified according to the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) rules. The bodywork is based on the Jaguar XKR but it has undergone intensive computational fluid dynamics work (CFD) by the Jaguar aerodynamics department. Meanwhile, a local company in Michigan molded its carbonfiber composite body work, dutifully complying with the ACO guidelines.
In a statement, Paul Gentilozzi, RSR team owner, said that the process resulted to this GT2 car that contains "the DNA and the spirit of the Jaguar Design Department and the production car." In addition, the car will be equipped with a Bosch Motorsport ECU and data logger with color display, as well as Bosch spark plugs.
Since there are very specific limitations, Gentilozzi explained that RSR used the "Body-In-White," which is the basic skeletal structure, the sub-frames and frames from the original production car. He added that they started its GT2 car with a real Jaguar XKR and that this is not a panel built or fabricated car. In short, what was used was the aluminum skeletal structure of the car, the production doors, roof and deck lid.
