Japanese debut for the all-new Honda Odyssey

Putting the details on hold for later, it suffices to say that the Japanese version of the Odyssey minivan is an entirely different model than the one available in the US. The Japanese model is a fourth generation Odyssey which will be available in the Japanese market on October 17, 2008. Honda has made a marketing claim that it will sell at least four thousand units each month in the local market. It is quite obvious that the newest Honda European Accord Station Wagon was the inspiration of the superb elegance of the all-new 7-seater Odyssey minivan.
At the interior the vehicle is designed to achieve a higher level of comfort and features new systems such as the 3Dself-illuminating gauges and indicator lamps as well as a telescopic and tilt steering mechanism helps maintain the optimum driving position.
For improved safety the vehicle features the Advanced Compatibility Engineering but according to the manufacturer it was designed to protect also the pedestrians in case of a collision, due to the use of impact-absorbing structures. The minivan is available only in the new 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine that can be coupled to a 5-speed automatic transmission or a CVT gearbox in both the AWD and FWD configurations. Honda claims that the Odyssey reaches an average fuel consumption of 13.2 km to a liter which converts into a very positive and promising 7.6 liters per 100 kilometers (or 31 miles per gallon).
