Kay Segler, head of BMW M Division, says no to diesel M-cars

BMW might be producing a version of the M3 GT4, says Dr. Kay Segler, head of BMW's M Division and former chief at MINI. He added that it‚ possible BMW would authorize a limited run of the race-prepped M3. As of the date of this report, no decision has been made. The M3 GT4 participated in this year's Nurburging endurance race. Segler says that the idea of a diesel M-car is unrealistic as long as America still has not embraced diesel more deeply. He does however say that he has seen the diesel engine‚ rise to prominence in the world of motorsports, particularly endurance racing, within the past few years. Segler also talked about the proposed M Sport line of performance accessories. He says that whether this will actually be produced will depend on the demand in the market, especially in the US.
