Kia Borrego not coming to the U.S. for the 2010 model year

Kia Borrego

Kia's Borrego SUV will not be making an appearance in the US in 2010. The Borrego's launching in the summer was ill-timed as fuel prices were high and the demand for body-on-frame SUVs are declining. Kia's value pricing didn't help bring in sales during the deep recession. By the end of November, only 9,510 vehicles were sold. According to the unnamed Kia spokesman who broke the report, Kia aimed for at least 20,000 units to be sold annually. In Korea, the Borrego (which is named the Mohave in its home market) has fared better. The Kia spokesman says however that the Borrego might be returning to the US if sales conditions improve.
