Kia considering the production of Soulster

The Soul'ster Concept, a Soul-based vehicle, was initially launched by Kia as a design study to show the adaptive character of the original design. However, because the concept received positive public acknowledgement Kia is currently considering pthe production of Soulster. Shown first at the Detroit Auto Show early this year, the Soulster was built as a concept but with production capabilities. Based on the Soul, the Soulster comes with many features not seen in the original model. For instance, it has a higher ground clearance, is a four-seater (instead of five), and highlights a two-door convertible pickup body style rather than a four-door hatch. When it hits production lines, the Soulster will likely come with the same engine options as the Soul which is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. This optional engine will generate 142hp, and come with 2.0-liter in-line four with the manual of 4-speed auto. The Soul comes with a $13,995 price tag and Kia has promised to consider the budget of young customers when pricing the Soulster. [source autonews]
