Although the Kia Soul cross/utility vehicle made quite a buzz on the market and it is a huge success, the Korean manufacturer is not sure if it wants to extend its lineup with another variant of the popular car.
Back in June sales of the Kia Soul were up 156.3% from year-ago to 28,637, overtaking its competitors such as the Scion xB (9,852) and Nissan Cube (15,530). Apparently, Kia is afraid that new derivates of the Soul would not make sense. “(The Soul) tends to be a niche vehicle. There is very high appeal to a very narrow group of buyers.” said Orth Hedrick, director-product planning at Kia. Although back in 2009 at the Detroit Auto Show, Kia unveiled the convertible Soul’ster Concept, but it appears that this car doesn’t have too many chances to enter production as it will be an almost all-new vehicle due to structural and weight differences from the current Soul.
