Kia is rolling out to the public the latest addition to its Kia cee’d family of vehicles, the cee’d Sportswagon. The rollout of the Kia cee’d Sportswagon, which is marketed exclusively in the United Kingdom, comes just three months after its eldest sibling, the Kia cee’d hatchback, made its debut in the public. Replacing the former cee’d SW, the cee’d Sportswagon comes with a new name that gives legacy to its predecessor’s success in the fleet and business market in the United Kingdom. The new Kia cee’d Sportswagon is described as sporty, modern and even more technologically advanced, leading to improved practicality and value. Kia unveiled the cee’d Sportswagon alongside the cee’d hatchback at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
Like the cee’d SW, the cee’d Sportswagon was designed and engineered at the carmaker’s Frankfurt design studios and technical centre, and was built at the company’s Žilina plant in Slovakia. The cee’d SW has been one of Kia’s best-sellers in the fleet market, and has even outsold the hatchback among business customers. Endowed with more daring looks and advanced technologies, the cee’d Sportswagon is expected to be more appealing to user-choosers than its predecessor. The cee’d Sportswagon is also expected to attract fleet customers in the UK. The Kia cee’d Sportswagon is powered by advanced and highly efficient turbodiesel engines that boasts of high torque outputs and low operating and running costs, making them perfect for business operators looking for vehicles that could carry heavy loads and cruise for more miles.
A cee’d Sportswagon could be powered by the entry-level 89bhp 1.4 CRDi engine that could provide up to 220Nm of torque from just 1500rpm or by a 126bhp 1.6 CRDi that could offer up to 260Nm from only 1900rpm. Both transmissions, including the automatic coupled with the 1.6-litre engine, are six-speeds. Kia cee’d Sportswagons that come with manual transmissions are endowed with the carmaker’s Intelligent Stop & Go (ISG) fuel-saving, emissions-reducing engine stop/start technology. This allows the 1.4-litre cee’d Sportswagon to travel 67.3 miles on a gallon of fuel and emit carbon dioxide levels as low as 109gram per kilometre cruised, qualifying the variant for a Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) taxation rate of 15 percent in 2012-13. The manual 1.6-litre versions, on the other hand, travels up to 64.2 miles on a gallon of fuel and emits 116 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre travelled, qualifying it for a 17 per cent BIK taxation rate. Prices for the cee’d Sportswagon ranges from as low as £16,895 and as high as £24,795.
