Kimi Raikkonen is set to return to Formula 1 in 2012 after entering into a two-year deal with the Lotus Renault team. He had left the sport at the end of the 2009 season in order to engage in the World Rally Championship. He is regarded as one of the quickest drivers of his era, winning the title in 2007 with Ferrari. He also has 18 grand prix wins to his name.
Former world champion Damon Hill believes that Raikkonen's return is good for Formula 1. He told AUTOSPORT that Raikkonen "definitely got a couple more world championships in him."
He further stated that he would like to see a "titanic" fight for the titles in 2012, with the Briton hoping Red Bull's competitors can push the team harder in 2012 after dominating in 2011. Hill retired from the sport at the end of the 1999 season.
