Koenigsegg to take on Bugatti’s Veyron Super Sport speed record

Koenigsegg is considering its options on how to beat the top speed world record that Bugatti Veyron had set recently. Just last month, Bugatti brought its Veyron 16.4 Super Sport to the VW Ehra-Lessian test track. The car was equipped with a 1,200 hp and 1,500 Nm quad-turbocharged powerplant that enabled the car to reach a speed of 268 mph (431 km/h), marking its place in the Guinness Book of Records. Days after the record was set, Top Gear was given a special tour at the Koenigsegg factory by no other than the boss himself, Christian von Koenigsegg.
Bugatti's accomplishment was one of the topics that came up. Christian von Koenigsegg revealed that he is seriously thinking about a way to wrestle the record away from Bugatti.
The source said that Koenigsegg listed the categories where it could compete favorably against the Bugatti.
He said that the perfect machine to do this is its latest creation, the Agera. Unveiled at the latest Geneva Motor Show, the Agera is a 1,290 kg vehicle that uses a forced induction 4.7 liter V8 that generates 898hp and 1,100 Nm. This Agera can currently achieve a top speed of 242 mph (390 km/h).
