The untiring innovator, Kumho is starting the world's first ultra low profile 15 Series tire at the 2008 SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week. The 385/15ZR22 size ECSTA SPT KU31 has been improved as a crossover option for such striking sports cars as the Ferrari F430, Dodge Viper, and Corvette Z06. The company has utilized advanced computer simulation technology to maximize the sidewall structure, thus preventing the formation of standing waves or ripples in the contact patch, a predicament that can happen with the build up of heat at high speeds. The new tire also profits from a semi run flat capability, guaranteeing it remains strongly fixed to the rim even after a puncture or total loss of pressure.
