Mazda's in-house tuning company, Mazdaspeed, gave the Mazda2 a makeover package, dubbed as the 2Evil Special concept car. It is currently showcased at the L.A. Auto Show. At the same time, the standard Mazda2 also made its North American debut at the show and put on display 2 concept cars to commemorate its arrival, the Mazda Active2 Surf & Snow Special Concepts. The Mazda 2Evil Special is described by the company as "a weekend track car that can function equally well as an urban commuter."
Compared to the standard Mazda2, the 2Evil Special has a much more aggressive stance, sitting lower and featuring a new front spoiler and wider side skirts. Mazda added a rear diffuser, while the rear spoiler has been added to increase downforce and give it a racing look. The concept has a Ceramic Grey color and lime green detailing is featured on the wheels and door mirrors.
On the car, Mazdaspeed and '55' transfers are found. The 55 is a tribute to the firm's 1991 Le Mans-winning 787B racer. Of course, it is't only its appearance that has been changed. Mazda placed 17-inch wheels equipped with 215/45 Yokohama Advan tires, a new coilover suspension system and a Magna performance exhaust system.
