The 2014 Jaguar F-Type was officially introduced at the 2013 LA Auto Show, but the big surprise was in fact the introduction of the impressive F-Type R Coupe. This model is powered by the well-known 5.0-liter supercharged petrol V8 developing 550 PS and 680 Nm of torque, enough to sprint from 0 to 96 km/h (60 mph) in 4.0 seconds and to a top speed of 186 mph or 300 km/h.
CO2 emissions are 259 g/km. The engine is bolted to the eight-speed Quickshift transmission, which has been recalibrated to make the best use of the V8. The new F-Type R Coupe comes with Jaguar’s Adaptive Dynamics System that actively controls vertical body movement, roll and pitch rates. Due to the impressive engine, the F-Type R Coupe comes equipped with Jaguar's Super Performance braking system as standard.
The system features 380 mm front and 376 mm rear discs - with red or black painted calipers. As an option, the car can be equipped with the Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) brakes.
Regarding the design, the 2014 F-Type R Coupe shows gloss black front vanes beneath the shark gills and flat side sill extensions, window finishes highlighted in bright anodised aluminium along the frames of the side glass, with the grille surround and side air vents in bright chrome.
The Black Pack adds gloss black window finishers, gloss black side power air vents and a gloss black grille surround. Meanwhile, the front splitter, side power vents, door mirrors casings, bonnet power vents and engine cover are also available in carbon fibre. The exterior design is completed by the 20-inh Gyrodyne wheels in silver finish, which are offered as standard, but if you want more, the British carmaker offers dark grey and diamond-turned versions.
Inside, the F-Type R Coupe features performance seats with inflatable side-bolstering and prominent wings, premium leather and the ‘R’ logo embossed on the headrest. A pure 'Jet' interior colourway is offered with three options of contrast stitching - Ivory, Red or Firesand - on the instrument panels, door casings, grab-handle highlight and cubby box.
There are a further three sporting options on the Jet seats - Ivory, Camel or Red duo-tones, each with similarly-matched contrast stitching. If you believe that the F-Type R Coupe is too powerful, you can turn your attention to the F-Type Coupe and the F-Type S Coupe. The F-Type Coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged petrol engine developing 340 PS and 450 Nm of torque.
This model is capable to hit 96 km/h (60 mph) in 6.1 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited to 161 mph or 260 km/h. The F-Type S Coupe uses the same engine, but in its case it delivers 380 PS and 460 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) is made in 4.8 seconds, while the top speed is limited at 171 mph (275 km/h). All F-Type Coupe models are equipped with Jaguar's Intelligent Stop/Start system which, when conditions allow, automatically shuts down the engine when the car comes to a halt and the driver's foot is on the brake pedal.
Three audio systems are available, two of which come from Meridian. The British experts offer either 10 or 12 loudspeakers with outputs of 380W and 770W respectively. The F-TYPE Coupé will go on sale in spring of 2014. In the UK, the F-Type Coupe has a starting price of 51,235 GBP, while the F-Type S Costs 60,235 GBP. The F-Type R Coupe costs 85,000 GBP. In the United States, the F-Type R Coupe costs $99,000, while the F-Type S Coupe is priced at $77,000. The base price of the F-Type Coupe is $65,000 in the US.
