A bespoke example of the new 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante was introduced to the public at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. It actually was initially presented this summer at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week. At the show in LA, the new Vanquish was displayed in conjunction with dealer partner, Galpin Aston Martin of California.
Q by Aston Martin (the brand’s bespoke customisation division) handcrafted the Neiman Marcus Edition Vanquish Volante. This exclusive car took inspiration from the iconic (1969) DB6 Volante owned by HRH Prince of Wales. In fact, it was featured in the Royal wedding of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Kate Middleton.
It made its debut as one of the items on the 2013 Neiman Marcus Fantasy Christmas Catalogue. Only 10 examples will be made of this model, which is the first Vanquish Volante to be available in the U.S. Vanquish Volante is the first fully carbon fibre-skinned Volante ever built in the company’s long 100-year history. It’s also the stiffest Volante body structure built by the engineering team at Aston Martin’s global HQ in Gaydon, Warwickshire, England.
The new car is fitted with a triple-skin lightweight fabric roof that can be used during speeds of up to 30 mph. Folding it only takes 14 seconds. This means that the switch from enclosed to open top motoring, or vice versa, can be easily done even while the car is moving. The new Vanquish Volante is at the top of the sports car lineup, together with its coupe variant.
The new Volante gets all the technical, engineering and design improvements seen in the Vanquish coupe. The Vanquish Volante is clearly the most beautiful car in its class as it keeps the coupe’s full breadth of dynamic character and sporting performance. It is powered by the same new AM11 6.0-litre V12 engine used on the coupe. Both offer amazing performance figures, including a top speed of 183 mph.
