Article by Christian Andrei, on November 10, 2014

Once again, the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maybach was confirmed for this year’s 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. According to our sources, the new vehicle will be slotted above the standard S-Class and below the upcoming Pullman limousine. Set to mark the return of the Maybach name, the new Mercedes-Maybach S600 will be 8 inches longer than the standard S-Class.

Gordon Wagener, the head of global design at Mercedes-Benz, said that the new vehicle will be 5.5 meters long, which makes it shorter than the Maybach 57 (5.7 m). Under the hood we will find a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that will generate over 500 hp and deliver the power to the rear wheels.

Moreover, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 will get the Magic Body Control suspension in order to offer the highest level of comfort for its passengers.

Regarding the design, there new vehicle will look very much like an S-Class, but the interior will feature the finest materials, reclining seats for the rear passengers as well as the Maybach badges.

Set to go on sale next year, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 will take on high-end vehicles such as the Bentley Mulsanne and the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II.

Mercedes Benz has always been the epitome of elegance and style in the automobile world. However, some customers seek more exclusivity out of the brand and that’s where the likes of Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach come in. The Maybach is a sub brand of Mercedes Benz that caters to a more exclusive clientele.

The Mercedes-Maybach S- Class is scheduled to be launched this coming February 2015 while the S-500 4MATIC variant will be available in 3-4 months. Since the event is heading our way, let’s have a “first look” and see what the exclusive brand has to offer.

The highest model range will be the Mercedes Maybach S-600. This special edition Mercedes Benz will have the V12 twin-turbo engine capable of producing 390kW powerful output. At the same time, the 5980cc engine displacement can generate as much as 830Nm of torque from 1900 rpm. On the other hand, the S-500 model comes with 335kW output given its 4663cc displacement. With 700Nm maximum torque, the S-500 also has the NEDC combined fuel consumption of 8.9L/100km with 207g/km CO2 emissions.

Mercedes-Maybach is undoubtedly the quietest car in the world. In spite of the large windows; the wind noise has been reduced to an impressively low level. Meanwhile, the exterior design is a combination of trendsetting exclusivity, effortless superiority and style.

One of the most distinct qualities of Mercedes’ exclusive line is the side profile. This version has a shorter wheelbase than the S-Class without the triangular window at the door cutout. The rear window has been placed along the C pillars to create more privacy at the rear section. Nonetheless, the Maybach edition has retained the S-Class’ dome-shaped roofline aside from the extended wheelbase.

Mercedes-Maybach’s clear design comes with elegant materials and stylish control panels for superior comfort. An example of this is the IWC analogue clock along the dashboard. Then, the exclusive sub brand used the finest nappa leather upholstery on the armrests for a more relaxing feel. All in all, the interior area has been modified to create a modern, luxurious lounge.
