Lamborghini announces new program for reducing CO2 emissions

All carmakers around the world, including the high-luxury brands, are rethinking their designs and production methods in an attempt to be more eco-friendly as fuel economy and emissions standards becomes more rigid across the chief markets of the world. A succession of car companies have pledged to reduce their emissions numbers, including Bentley and Ferrari and now Lamborghini has joined the list with it new strategy at eco-friendliness. Internally, Lamborghini has set its goal of emissions reduction by 35 percent by 2015 and to achieve this it has to focus on weight reduction of its products to consequently improve the efficiency of its powerplants and in combination with upgrades to enable them to run on biofuel.
Stop-start technology will also be included plus hybrid drivetrain solutions. The Gallardo LP 560-4 is the carmaker's new eco-friendly statement as the model has cut its emissions by 18 percent of carbon dioxide in contrast to the regular Gallardo upon which it is patterned.
This environmental move by Lamborghini has reached company-wide level with up to 35 million Euros set aside for the succeeding five years to enhance the efficiency of all its operations, which include the cutting of carbon dioxide emissions from its factory by 30 percent by next year through the installation of photovoltaic solar panels.
