Although other carmakers were clamoring for government aid, Lamborghini continued to maintain profitable sales in most of its markets. Lamborghini said that it succeeded in increasing its sales by 1 percent in 2008 from a sales of 2406 to 2430 in spite of the dire market conditions plaguing the auto industry. China is the source of Lamborghini's strongest growth with 72 cars from 28 the preceding year, followed by the Middles Eastern region with 166 units from 100 and major markets in Asia. Sales in the US market for the brand fell by 20.3 percent with 741 cars sold in 2008 and 930 the year before that. The Italian market came in with 10 percent increase from 209 to 230 cars, making the brand's homeland into the second largest market in the world. This marks the most successful fiscal year in the history of Lamborghini. Although the world is undergoing severe economic changes, the company is confident that its strong global presence and brand appeal will allow it to see Lamborghini through these trying times.
