Automobili Lamborghini development team and engineers from tire colleague Pirelli in the previous week put the Gallardo Super Trofeo through its speed on the Vallelunga Race Track just outside the Italian capital. This signified the initial tests under replicated race environment, with Lamborghini experimental driver Giorgio Sanna in the cockpit. From the very beginning, the lap times attained were much swifter than any that has ever been recorded with a single-brand trophy racecar on this racetrack. The latest Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo produced the initial confirmation of its exceptional performance in the preliminary assessments, with tremendously good handling and outstanding lap times.
Arrangements for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo are perfectly going as planned. The world's fasted single-brand competition is scheduled at Silverstone on May 2 2009. The tires and the racecar setup were the focus of the calibration job.
"During the 40 minute race, the drivers are not permitted to change the tires. Therefore, we have to pay particularly close attention to the durability of the slicks," Giorgio Sanna explains. "We are well within our schedule, and will continue to push things forward," said Manfred Fitzgerald, the Director of Brand and Design for Lamborghini and responsible for the Super Trofeo. "Ultimately, we want to provide our teams with a race car that is not only fast, but also perfectly reliable."
