Lamborghini, the great Italian manufacturer specialized in high-end supercars, announced today the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo -- the world's fastest one-make series. The new series will make its debut in next year (2009) in May and will feature Lamborghini's Super Trofeo, a lightweight version of the recently launched Gallardo LP 560-4. The new vehicle will feature a new chassis, with a reduced weight of only 1300 kg, the same 5.2-liter V10 engine that will develop an impressive 570 hp, of course, with the help of the "Iniezione Diretta Stratificata" system.
The championship will have 30 vehicles available to individual and dealer teams. One car will be reserved for celebrity "guest drivers" and will be included in the line-up at each round. "We're delighted to announce The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo," said Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. "Both on-track and off, our championship will reflect the Lamborghini brand, with extreme, high performance racing and stylish and luxurious trackside facilities. This gives our Lamborghini clients, as well as professional and gentleman racing drivers looking for a new challenge, the opportunity to experience Lamborghini in the ultimate driving environment."
The first race will take place on 3 May at Silverstone Circuit in the UK, followed by Adria in Italy on 17 May; Nuremburg's Norisring in Germany on 5 July; Spa in Belgium on 2 August; Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya in Spain on 20 September; and culminating on 4 October in Monza, Italy. So if you have the money and want to enter in a high-class competition, you have to know that the price of the Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo is $254,000 plus tax and entry fee.
