Lamborghini LP 670-4 to make its official debut at Geneva

The Italian auto manufacture plans to come out with a lightweight variant of the Lamborghini Murcielago as the supercar is at the end of its lifecycle. The replacement will come with more potency than the 641 hp (478kW) stock vehicle. The new version will weigh up to 220lb (100kg) lesser than the Murcielago and is expected to sport the famous 'Superveloce' or 'SV' label which was employed for the previous Diablo. Information released just recently show that the new vehicle will come out with the 'LP 670-4' tag hinting that will come with a power yield of 670 hp (500kW) and maintain the all-wheel-drive. More details will come next month at the Geneva. As with other previous versions or even with the later Gallardo Superleggera there are three aspects engineers will focus on: mechanicals, interior and exterior.
The inside of the car will be stripped out and substituted with carbon fiber, along with door innards, center console and seats. A fixed Carbon GT wing will replace the automatic spoilers, the stock rims will be substituted with lightweight forged units. The e-gear will be standard but upgraded for quicker shift rates, and aluminum parts will be replaced with magnesium pieces which are lighter.
Shift rate has been improved from 0.4 seconds to about 0.2 seconds. The latest model will only be the ultimate reviving of the ancient Murcielago until its substitute comes in 2011. The upcoming Lamborghini supercar, dubbed the 'Jota,' was observed testing beneath the bodywork of a Murcielago although it is believed that the development of the powertrain and underpinnings are already in advanced stages.
