Land Rover Discovery is celebrating 20 years of success on the market. The all-purpose vehicle, which has been around since November 16, 1989, was developed originally to plug the gap between the striking Defender and the top-of-the-line Range Rover. It wasn't long before the Discovery gained a reputation as the most versatile model in the brand's line-up. Phil Popham, Managing Director, stated that the Discovery is built on innovative design and advanced technology.
Continued after the jump! Discovery broke grounds when it introduced high-efficiency direct-injection diesel technology into the 4x4 market in 1989 and pioneered occupant safety with the adoption of twin airbags in 1998. Popham added that since the Land Rover Discovery debuted in 1989, it has answered the needs and tastes of its increasingly urbane and discerning buyers.
The Discovery is celebrated for its exterior vision, which has the stepped roof and asymmetric rear glass theme, giving all occupants a clear view. Deserving mention amidst the festivities is Conran Design Studio, which has aided in creating the user-friendly, smart and elegant interior design of the Discovery. Not many will argue that the Discovery is truly the best loved SUV the world over. The Discovery is available in 91 countries and has sold more than 900,000 units to date.
