The company also plans a new mini-Range Rover hybrid derived on the LRX Concept and propelled by a 2.0-liter diesel unit. Also already in development is a mild hybrid Range Rover Sport that comes with a super-capacitor for short-term electricity storage and starter-generator that stores energy when the engine brakes. JLR, as part of its aid justification program, has pledged to do more intensive studies in the area of lightweight materials, like aluminum for use across its range. The succeeding Range Rover and Sport will come with alloy bodyshells and the latest two-seater XE sports car is going to be the next-generation alloy XK version. Jaguar is also expected to contemplate on creating alloy replacement for the XF once plans for the current model pushes through. Another consideration is to fit alloy body panels to steel cars which could reduce the car's curb weight by as much as 100 kilograms.
