Laurens van den Acker, ex-designer of Mazda joins Renault

Later this year, Laurens van den Acker will join Renault as the vice president of corporate design. Van den Acker, 43, who have also worked with Ford and Audi, resigned recently from Mazda where he had been the general manager of design since 2006. He will be replacing Patrick le Quement, 64, who will be retiring as senior vice president of Renault Corporate Design and will begin work this May. Le Quement has been with Renault for 22 years and is recognized as the person who brought the company‚ designs toward a more distinctive path, with models like the Avantime and Vel Satis as the models that will make him be remembered for.
