The executives of Nissan have established the reality of a Spec-V GT-R, a lightweight and more potent variant of the already extreme Japanese supercar, and there is a talk about a final specifications for the vehicle based on details made available at this weekend's Japan's 12th yearly Nismo Festival. Anticipated to be introduced in Japan on January 8 2008, the Spec-V GT-R is given a price tag beginning JPY15,750,000 ($168,900 or EUR133,750) and a fully optioned version is anticipated to be priced at JPY16,978,000 ($182,100 or EUR144,250).
This is almost twice the price of the typical GT-R, but versions sold in North America will almost certainly be less expensive. The Spec-V, based on the forthcoming 'Series II' GT-R, is estimated to run the same powertrain as the typical model which means it will get the identical 5hp improvement to 478 hp (356 kW). Although many were anticipating highlights in increased power improvements, it is rather on the weight reduction and dynamics improvement that the modifications were more focused on.
Modifications to the vehicle's mechanical components comprise of the taking away of the transmission mode selection switch, a new 'overboost' function for short bursts of increased midrange boost, carbon-ceramic brakes and an upgraded Bilstein Damptronic suspension system. Lastly, a new set of 20 inch forged aluminum wheels by Rays was installed by Nissan. Buyers will also be able choose a new 'Ultimate Black Pearl' paint finish, which appears to be purplish black. At the interior, the car gets a fresh carbon-fiber dash surround, a totally black color scheme, chrome highlights, carbon-fiber front seats and a carbon rear shelf to substitute the seats at the back. More options include a Thatcham alarm system, Bose high quality stereo, and additional sticky Dunlop rubber. There have been no official performance numbers or time projections made available as of the moment and new Nurburgring times for the vehicle is not likely to be provided by Nissan.
