Three years after Lee Noble left his namesake company, he now works on his first project ‚ a closed-roof, mid-engined two-seater that produces up to 650hp. The vehicle, which will cost less than ¬£100,000, is slated to go on sale in 2010.
Assembly is being done at a facility in Port Elizabeth , South Africa , where the Noble M12 was also built. While Noble has yet to reveal his new company‚ name and the car names, he confirmed that the new car uses a petrol engine and has all-round double wishbone suspension with steel brakes (but no anti-lock system) and a spaceframe chassis. Continued after the jump!
With regards to the engine, Noble would only say that it will have eight cylinders and would have from 400bhp and 650bhp, a figure that will depend on what the customer is willing to spend. The gearbox will be the same as what was used on the Noble M600 ‚ a Graziano six-speed manual unit. With a weight of 1200kg, the car should be capable of 0-60mph in less than 3.5sec and 0-100mph in less than 7.0sec.
Noble said that the car will cost from around ¬£70,000 and even the top-end versions will be priced less than ¬£100,000. He added that he intends to deliver a car that performs as well as a Ferrari Enzo but with a price that‚ less than ¬£100,000. He expressed confidence that barring any major problems, he will be able to produce the car in time.
