Lexus ES 350 loses top rated title! Hyundai Genesis Sedan wins!

Hyundai Genesis Sedan has succeeded in wrestling the Top-Rated Upscale Sedan for 2009 title from the Lexus ES 350, 2009 Acura TL, 2009 Nissan Maxima, the 2009 Lincoln MKS, Pontiac G8 and seven other luxury sedans. A plus factor in the Hyundai Genesis is that it competes with high-end luxury sedans in design, performance, and drivability with considerably far less cost.
The price tag of the Lexus LS 400 was $38,000 when it premiered back in 1989 and was rated superior by Car and Driver compared to the $63,000 Mercedes-Benz 420 SEL and the $55,000 BMW 735i. In that year the Lexus marquee, including its LS400 and ES250 models, became the top grossing imported luxury car in the US and since 2000 has been the top-selling brand.
On the other hand, Hyundai started selling Genesis only last year with a price tag of $33,000 inclusive of delivery fees instantly distancing itself from all its would-be rivals. If Lexus is the basis of these ratings and if Genesis continues this way, then it seems that we have a newluxury leader on our hands.
