2011 Lexus GS 450h

Lexus announced today that the new LF-Gh Concept will make its official debut next month, at the 2011 New York Auto Show. As expected, the new car previews the next-generation Lexus GS, which is set to be introduced on the market in 2012. Still, the new car also previews the new design philosophy, which will be seen on all the upcoming Lexus models, including the new IS which will also come in 2012. Furthermore, the new concept will also preview the new hybrid technology Lexus will adopt for its new models.

Currently, the Lexus GS 450h is the hybrid version of the GS and it is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a compact, permanent magnet electric motor, capable to push it from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 5.2 seconds. The engine delivers 340 horsepower, and according to Lexus it offers V8-like performance with greater fuel efficiency.

The Lexus GS 450h also delivers an impressive fuel consumption of 22 mpg city/25 highway/23 combined and is certified as a Super-Low Emissions Vehicle II (SULEV II). The gasoline V6 uses an Electronic Throttle Control System with intelligence (ETCS-i) and a dual fuel-injection system that combines the benefits of direct injection with those of port injection.
