Lexus to unveil the Bmw 1-Series rival at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show

A Lexus five-door compact hatchback will be launched at this year's Tokyo Motor Show! There has been no official confirmation from Lexus yet. However, we found out that the concept is a close match to the car that Lexus will be offering up against BMW's 1-series and Audi's A3 in 2010. If rumors are to be believed, the car was planned late last year due to European executives who pointed out that the Europe's premium C-segment was very lucrative. The car's name will supposedly have both "BS" and "CS" in the frame. Sources say that like the Lexus RX SUV, the car will be a petrol-electric hybrid-only model and will likely use a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine that, with the help of an electric motor, produces 187 hp. This engine is the same powertrain as the US-market-only HS250h. Similar to the HS, the car will be front-wheel drive, but it won't have the same platform as the HS. Don't forget about the LF-A Supercar, which will also make its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show! [via bestcar]
