Local Motors Rally Fighter coming to SEMA Show

Local Motors Rally FighterAt the upcoming SEMA Show, be the judge of whether a business concept of letting buyers design the car and help assemble it is a success or a bomb. Local Motors will be showing off the Rally Fighter, an offroadster that was created by the Internet community who decided on the design and specifications of the vehicle.

The focus on fuel economy comes from the direction of Local Motors’ CEO Jay Rogers who fought in the Iraq war as a Marine and personally witnessed the oil problem. The Rally Fighter has already left Wareham, Massachusetts, in order to make it to SEMA for its unveiling on November 3. Do you think the idea has merit? Find out more about Local Motors’ microfactory and crowdsourcing processes from this video of Rogers. Continued after the jump!
