Lotus Cars to protect its name by going into legal action

There were initial reports that emerged the previous week saying that the name Team Lotus could have a comeback to the grid in 2010 through Litespeed, a UK F3 team, who said that it has acquired authority to use the designation from David Hunt, the holder of the name rights. Team Lotus was purchased by David Hunt in 1994 from the bankrupt team. The existing carmaker, Lotus Cars Limited, which emerged from the company started by Colin Chapman back in 1952, made it clear that it has no connection whatsoever with Litespeed. According to a statement made by Lotus Cars Limited, it will protect its name, reputation and brand image by going into legal action if it has to just to prevent Litespeed from using its name. Furthermore, talks about Superfund's removal from the FIA list because of the discovery of unsettled motor racing debt amounting to 4 million Euros added to the bad report for the 2010 F1 hopeful.
