The new Lotus Evora 2+2 will receive a supercharged variant that will generate at least 350 hp while the normally ventilated 276 hp variant is set for launch in May this year.

Although there is not enough details concerning the latter variant it has been established that it is capable of sprinting from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds and will have a maximum speed of 160 mph. The supercharged version can sprint at a lesser time of 5.0 seconds and reach a peak speed of 175 mph. This version however will be available in 2011 since it is not the current priority of car manufacturer Lotus. Meanwhile, the focus is leveled on other products that will be due this year, such as the standard version Lotus Evora which is set for sale this autumn in the US among others. Another version of the Evora that comes with an automatic torque converter is also intended, and which is expected to have a greater appeal for US customers although it won’t make it on time for the US launch. Scheduled for 2010, the Evora roadster will come subsequent to its automatic version. The builders of Evora, however, admitted to the packaging difficulty of a top-down vehicle that comes with an integrated electric roof mechanism, as customers would most likely expect from a price tag of £50,000.

Lotus expects the supercharged Evora to arrive in the middle of 2011 as they have been testing a supercharged variant of the V6 powerplant and claim to generate 350 hp and 290 lb-ft or torque, which is an improvement from the 252 lb-ft in the regular car, even without the presence of any kind of modification. The development time of the supercharged model is significantly cut thanks to the already completed integration of the car’s braking and cooling requirements into the standard vehicle. The powerplant compartment of the supercharged Evora has received some design revisions to enable it to accommodate its supercharger. Unconfirmed pricing for the standard Evora begins at £45,000 while the supercharged version, contingent on specs, will fetch a price tag between £55,000 and £60,000.
