After the third straight year that Lotus Engineering has recorded a growth, it has hired two new managers to strengthen its market presence in China and Europe. Lotus has named Hui Zhang to be the general manager for China operations with the task of generating third party business in China and improving the Lotus Engineering local delivery service structure. Zhang, a former employee of Kiekert, is an expert in the European and Chinese automotive industries. Lotus also appointed Martin Elbs to head sales in Europe. Elbs formerly worked at the German engineering firm ETAS GmbH.

Elbs’ new role will concentrate on developing increased consultancy business in Europe and setting up a Lotus Engineering office in Germany. Robert Hentschel, Director of Lotus Engineering, says that 2010 was the third successive year of third party sales growth for the company, in line with the company's five year business plan.

And so Lotus is planning to recruit about 400 engineers by 2015. He said that Lotus considers this period as a “renaissance” in its history. He said that while providing engineering support for the new range of Lotus cars shown at the Paris Motor show, the company will significantly invest in and grow its engineering consultancy business to achieve all the milestones in its five year business plan.
