Lotus pitching the Evora platform technology to other companies
The Evora platform technology that Lotus is developing will soon make its way into the cars of many companies. Lotus is seeking potential customers for the structure, called Versatile Vehicle Architecture (VVA), which is easily adaptable to create most vehicle types, from sports car to SUV.
In a presentation Lotus gave to various carmakers, the Evora platform was shown to easily take an electric powertrain. However, the firm would not be building one itself. Lotus reveals that it is working on eight hybrid and electric projects for other companies. There’s a report that suggests that Tesla could market its own electric version of the Evora. In particular, the VVA is being offered mostly to small companies for niche products. Lotus’ role would be to either supply an Evora chassis or build a bespoke platform. A Lotus spokesman said that what the company offers to carmakers is the easy and effective way of making niche vehicles.
