New Lotus CEO Dany Bahar's top priority is to bring Lotus back to the stature it had in the 1970s to the 1990s when it competed heavily against Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati. Bahar intends to build on the Lotus's "strong heritage" to bring back its successes and its reputation as a maker of "exciting, innovative and light sports cars." Bahar, who had been the head of the sales department of Ferrari before transferring to Lotus, said that the Lotus name had massive potential and its strengths come from its iconic brand and its long history in car-racing. Bahar asserted that now is the right time to bring Lotus back to where it was. He defined success as not about always thinking in one direction. Rather, success stems from innovative technology and super efficiency. He said that he will soon be at work on creating a new business plan that will achieve this goal within 3-5 years.
