These are the first official images of Lotus' 2010 Formula One car. While the team's first wind tunnel model team has been completed, Lotus's chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne said that there is still more work that has to be done before the race. Lotus has been painstakingly developing a car that follows the revised 2010 rules. Some of these revisions include the installation of chiefly narrower front tires and larger fuel tanks due to the banning of refueling.
Gascoyne said that preparing the car for the first race of the next season means that it has to face numerous challenges.
However, he said that he is confident that Lotus is up to the task. By the middle of February, Lotus expects the car to be ready to roll out and in mid-March, it will carry out preseason testing in preparation for Bahrain. No announcement has been made on which drivers will be tasked to drive in the race. The favorite to get this slot is experienced Toyota driver Jarno Trulli.
