Luc Donckerwolke has been named as the new Director of Design of Bentley Motors. Prior to this appointment, Donckerwolke had served as Volkswagen Group’s Head of Advanced Design. He is the successor of Dirk van Braeckel who transfers to Volkswagen Group design headed by Walter de Silva. In 1992, he started his career in the industry as one of Audi’s exterior designers. He later worked for various other Volkswagen group brands like Lamborghini, SEAT and Skoda. At Lamborghini, he is credited for helping create the award-winning designs of the Murcielago and Gallardo. According to Walter de Silva, Donckerwolke has plenty of design experience to offer to Bentley, making him the best person to lead the brand’s future design language especially as it has major plans for new models. De Silva also applauded Dirk van Braeckel’s “significant contribution” to Bentley, pointing out how he was responsible for the brand’s evolution and the development of the new generation Continental family and the flagship Mulsanne.
