Magna Steyr MILA EV hints at Bmw’s electric car program

Magna Steyr MILA EV

Magna, the Austrian auto parts provider, has developed a concept that hints at the new Project i electric car program of BMW. Featured on the lightweight three-door hatch MILA EV is a removable power module that comes with batteries and electric drive motors. The glass roof comes with solar cell integration to generate extra energy. Since the cost of batteries and electric motors are equal or even more than the car that houses them Magna and other carmakers are considering battery pack as being an item that the user leases rather than owns. In partnership with BMW in the exploration of electric car technology, Magna is hopeful that other carmakers will purchase electric platform as a ready-made base for their own models.
