After news broke that Mark LaNeve was leaving General Motors after having served as its top marketer, many wondered which company would soon be benefiting from his services, says Autonews. It turns out that he would be joining Allstate Insurance as chief marketing officer, according to two unnamed executives. LaNeve became vice president of sales at GM when Vice Chairman Bob Lutz assumed control over marketing in July. LaNeve had also spent several years as a Volvo executive before entering GM. He succeeds Joan Walker at Allstate. When asked about the appointment, an Allstate spokesman could only say that an active search is underway for a CMO. Nevertheless, it is believed that an announcement will be made on Monday. LaNeve officially leaves GM on October 15.
