Market to receive 25 units of returning Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren

The Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren has returned with a vengeance. In fact, the vehicle is being touted to have shown rivals how to deliver an awesome performance. Autoblog Germany reports that McLaren will deliver 25 new units to the market under the McLaren SLR Edition name. The revived hypercar will be offered with an updated exterior. It features a redesigned front bumper that comes with oversized air intakes and a new type of mesh grille.
The side air vents have a rounded shape and use a new layout. The vehicle receives several aerodynamic tweaks that include a new rear diffuser. This vehicle, which arrives in the market about a year after it ended production, was showcased at the Essen Motor Show. Actually, McLaren has yet to confirm this project. It may even be possible that this development is a customer tuning project.
It is believed that the SLR’s technical specs are unchanged. It will still be powered by the supercharged 5.4 literV8 powerplant that produces 626 hp and a peak torque of 780 Nm (575 lb-ft). This engine distributes power to the rear wheels through an automatic five-speed AMD Speedshift transmission. With this unit, the car is capable of sprinting from zero to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 333 km/h (207 mph). [via Autoblog Germany]
