Maserati to introduce three new models in quick succession

Maserati will introduce three new products one after the other, according to Sergio Marchionne, who was interviewed at the CBI business conference in London. In particular, these three new models are: a replacement luxury sedan for the Quattroporte, a smaller Maserati four-door based on the Chrysler 300, and the Maserati Kubang SUV based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Marchionne said that Maserati aims to raise its volumes with these three cars. He declined to say what vehicle will arrive first “since it has implications for the industrial footprint of the group.”
But CAR magazine believes that the new Quattroporte would be the first to be launched. In addition, Marchionne implied that the smaller four-door will probably be produced beside the flagship luxury sedan. He said that a site in Modena builds the Quattroporte and that there’s currently some debate on what will happen to the plant after Quattroporte stops production. He said that there is “sufficient commonality” in what they’re doing with the smaller car and the bigger one, giving them the opportunity to do whatever they please.
He explained that traditionalists may doubt the Maserati SUV’s merits but he emphasized that the Kubang is real. The new Kubang would be built on Grand Cherokee underpinnings and will probably be produced in Jeep’s U.S. plant. He added that a Chrysler-based Maserati sedan and SUV will be very Italian and will be equipped with engines, suspensions, styling, and cabin furniture that are based on Ferrari and Maserati.
