Today, the first Mazda Premacy Hydrogen Rotary Engine (RE) Hybrid was delivered by the Japanese carmaker Mazda Motor Corporation to an energy development company based in Japan called Iwatani Corporation. The RE Hybrid, which is the second RE vehicle to be leased to Iwatani Corporation, is the carmaker's latest vehicle that utilizes hydrogen for fuel and is equipped with a special hybrid system.

Equipped with a dual-fuel system that was intended for the present RX-8 Hydrogen RE which was the first version to be leased by Iwatani Corporation in 2006, the Mazda Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid can run on both hydrogen and gasoline. With the introduction of a new hybrid system the vehicle's performance was improved and the range of its hydrogen fuel was raised to 300km, twice that of the RX-8.

The new RE model is intended to be used for business functions at Iwatani's offices in the western part of Japan, after which it will be brought to Kansai Airport Hydrogen Station of Japan Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Demonstration Project where it will see service in a variety of functions.
