According to our source from Mazda, we found out today that the Japanese manufacturer is currently working on the next-generation of the RX-8, dubbed the RX-9.

Regarding the design of the car, few facts were confirmed: that the new vehicle will borrow the design lines from the Taiki Concept (shown in the photo and unveiled back in 2007 at the Tokyo Motor Show) and that the suicide doors found on the current version will also find their place in this new car. As you expected, the engine of the car will be a revolutionary 1.6-liter Birotor engine capable to develop around 300 hp. A debut is expected in 2012 but we might see this car earlier, our source confirmed!
