Mazda to unveil 2012 MX-5 Miata Special Edition at the Chicago Auto Show

2012 Mazda MX-5 Miata Special Edition
Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) will launch the 2012 MX-5 Miata Special Edition at the upcoming 2012 Chicago Auto Show. Based on the Grand Touring model, the MX-5 Special Edition features a black-only Power Retractable Hard Top, new 17-inch black gunmetal alloy wheels, black exterior accents, black heated leather seats and piano black interior finishes.
The limited edition car will also come in two new exterior finishes. MX-5 Miata Special Edition comes in two available transmissions: a six-speed manual transmission with short-throw shifter, a six-speed Sport automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Mazda will both offer the Premium and Suspension packages on the MX-5 Special Edition, and include features like Bluetooth hands-free phone system, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Bilstein shocks and a sport-tuned suspension.
The MX-5 Miata, first released in 1989, has proven to be a legendary roadster in terms of luxury and price. Mazda proved back then that a sports car does not need to be expensive in order to be luxurious. As a result, the MX-5 Miata became and is currently the world's best-selling two-seat roadster with more than 900,000 units rolled out.
MNAO will also display at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show its Turbo2 Concept, which debuted at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas in November 2011. The Turbo2 concept is the brainchild of The Autobarn, which operates two Mazda dealerships in the Greater Chicago area. The subcompact concept is basically a "Zoom-Zoom Concentrated" Mazda2, outfitted with MAZDASPEED3 MZR 2.3-liter Direct Injection Spark Ignition (DISI) turbo engine.
