Mazda3 receives i-stop stop-start technology

2010 Mazda3 Hatchback

What could be better in this period of massive downturn and global warming than a super eco-friendly and fuel economic car? You can choose now for the new Mazda3 which was recently updated with Mazda's i-stop technology. What is so great about the i-stop stop-start technology is that, when speed is under 2mph, the car "falls asleep" assuring a fuel economy of 19% and less CO2 emissions, somewhere below 160g/km. It gives the impression that the engine died but you just need to depress the clutch and it is ready to ride again. For the moment the i-stop will only be available on the two 2.0L sport models. Mazda is planning to put the i-stop system on all new petrol models by 2011 and later on to continue with the diesel engines.
