Those who visit the new media site of McLaren Automotive will be pleasantly surprised to find that they don’t have to register to get access to the majority of its downloadable assets, which are still licensed exclusively for editorial use. The site would only require a password for materials that were issued under embargo and for those that are available only to certain users. The users who want to get McLaren Automotive press releases by email would still have to register though. There will be flags positioned under individual file titles to indicate the documents that are offered in several languages.
Through the use of a web tool powered by ShareThis, a link would appear on the chosen press release, image, or video to one of more than 100 social media websites. The new home page has the latest press releases and images and it also includes the frames showing what has been going on with McLaren Automotive’s official Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages. McLaren is hosting chats in these social media hubs where users can easily participate in.
Since 2009, McLaren Automotive has published almost 20 high quality short films its official YouTube channel to be used by the media. Its own page has received over 1.25 million views but it has recorded many millions on the independent channels. Its YouTube channel will still be where we can see all the new films that will be produced by McLaren Automotive. But from the new site, they can be previewed and embedded. Global automotive media specialists, Newspress, developed the site, using all the strength of the industry’s top online press resources and the latest technologies in the social newsroom.
