McLaren MP4-12C

If you are the happy owner of a McLaren MP4-12C, you will be happy to know that the company if offering free ECU (Engine Control Unit) upgrades for its well known supercar. If the standard vehicle is powered by a 3.8-liter V8 engine delivering 441 kW (592 bhp / 600 PS) and 599 Nm (442 lb-ft) from 3,000 rpm, now the vehicle will receive an extra 25 PS. According to an official letter from McLaren Automotive's Managing Director Antony Sheriff, MP4-12C owners will receive a free 25 PS upgrade for their car as well as a number of features that initial customers have requested such as remote opening of the passenger door, programmable engine note and enhanced equalization options on the Meridian surround sound system. The upgrade will be available in October 2012, same time when the company will upgrade the IRIS system. The new power upgrade is expected to improve a little bit the performances of the MP4-12C, which are already impressive: a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). The total output of 625 PS might improve these performances. [source: McLarenDriver]
