In order to achieve a total production of 4,500 units, McLaren is set to introduce one model per year for the next five years. These words came from McLaren North American chief Tony Joseph who also added that the British manufacturer already built a prototype of an upcoming vehicle. Currently, McLaren plans to sell 1,000 units of the MP4-12C in its first year of production, but due to the demand for this car it appears that this number will be easily achieved. For those who don’t know, the McLaren MP4-12C is powered by a 3.8-liter twin turbo petrol engine delivering an impressive 441 kW (592 bhp / 600 PS) at 7,000 rpm and 599 Nm (442 lb-ft) from 3,000 rpm. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3 seconds and has a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). The engine is mated to a 7-speed double clutch gearbox prompted by F1-style aluminum rockers situated behind the steering wheel. [via AutoGuide]
