McLaren Automotive will open its first global retailer, McLaren London, on June 21. McLaren is expected to have 35 bespoke retailers in 19 countries around the world by the end of 2011. Building a new global retailer network is part of the company’s development program. McLaren chose these retailers to provide the most excellent customer sales and service for a lineup of McLaren cars, starting with the innovative MP4-12C high-performance sports car. Since 2005, McLaren Automotive has invested almost £800 million to become established as it is the newest sports car company in the world.
As can be expected, the site of the flagship McLaren showroom is in London’s newest and most prestigious address – One Hyde Park: The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, London. McLaren chose this retailer to join its network for its excellent track record in providing exceptional customer service and aftersales support. McLaren Automotive wants to make sure that what customers experience with their dealers would be as revolutionary as the MP4-12C sports car.
What makes McLaren different from other carmakers is that its retail network will stock a spare of each serviceable part for the MP4-12C so that repairs will be fast and efficient. McLaren refers to this as its ‘pitstop’ service concept. On June 30, the Manchester retailer will open and on July 5, the one in Birmingham will follow suit. The rest of the 31 sites in McLaren’s global network will be opened by the end of 2011, starting in July until the summer. This includes the network in Europe, including in Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Spain.
