Melkus preparing a big comeback with the new RS2000

Melkus RS2000For those who don’t know (we include us here, too…) Melkus is a German car manufacturer who debut on the market with the RS1000, a vehicle based on the Wartburg 353, which was built between 1969 and 1979 in just 101 units. Due to the fact that the vehicle remained a legend, the manufacturer is considering a second-generation of the vehicle, dubbed the RS2000.

Powered by a 270 hp engine, the vehicle is a true sports car (3.9m length, 1.75 m width and just 1.12m height) and carries its characteristic gullwing doors. Due to the fact that is made entirely made of carbon fiber materials and fiberglass, has an aluminium chassis the total weight is only 950 kg. Price of the vehicle will be around to €100,000. The new hand-made car will make its debut in November 2009 and according to the manufacturer, it will be build in just 25 units per year! Photo gallery after the jump!
