Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe rumored… again!

A new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, which will be introduced in 2011, will signal the demise of the CLC, Autocar reports (of course, we reported this new car back in Septermber, in this post). The C-Class Coupe is actually the second two-door to be based on the existing C-class; however, it will be the first to take its name into production. The new C-class Coupe is slated to go on sale in the UK simultaneous with the arrival of the facelifted versions of the existing saloon and estate in showrooms in early 2011.
The new C-Class Coupe was designed to replace the CLK, which has stopped production months ago after 12 years and two model generations. The entry of the C-Class coupe also means the end of the CLC, a small sports hatch that was only recently updated. According to sources, the model will be phased out and will be replaced by the new coupe. The upcoming two-door coupe will veer away from the unique body shell and individual styling associated with the CLK. Instead, the coupe will go for a relatively upright look that is heavily inspired by the silhouette and detailing of its four door siblings. The source said that the company studied what made its coupes so popular in the past and it found a direct relationship between them and their four door stable mates. [via autocar]
